This is just one of the many exclusive features that set us apart, offering unmatched flexibility in managing your highlights and notes in Notion.
Non-atomic Highlights & Notes
Non-atomic highlights & notes creates a single page per book with all the highlights & notes as blocks on that page. This will be the mode that readers might be more familiar with.
Advantages:
- Can easily view the full highlights and notes from a single page
Disadvantages:
- Not able to easily filter highlights by tags or other associated metadata since Notion does not support block level attributes like tags
To use Non-atomic highlights & notes you need to do the following:
1. Toggle Enable Atomic Highlights to Off . Should look like the screenshot below
2. Click Sync . Now open Notion and look at any of the book s that was just synced. You will notice that the highlights are not linked but inside the page as separate blocks
*NOTE: This is currently beta. A significant improvement is coming in the next update that better formats and displays all elements associated each highlight
Atomic Highlights & Notes
Advantages:
- Can fully leverage the full power of Notion to filter highlights across multiple books, by tags, colors and other attributes

3. Click on any of the highlights to open the page
4. You should also notice a Highlights table that was created inside BookFusion allowing you to fully leverage the power of Notion
